Yes, I can imagine some assignments being difficult if your sources are in chinese (and there are a limited number of translated sources). The school I was looking at is big on making sure their students learn Chinese well enough to be able to access those sources directly (and understand them).
I imagine your school does some of that, as well (i have no idea). But that was one thing I liked about the school I was interested in - that was a big deal to them. And we all know how cool languages are.
Anyway.
