No time to play yet but here is my first gratuitous photo- of my special Desert Rock...Healingstones, can you please get hubby to identify what rock it is?

Yay! New pictures coming soon I hope. I can't wait.
Good on ya :) Go Horace!
Wow - that is curious. The red on it looks like blood - it made me feel a bit spooked when I saw it I have to say. Could it be ironstone or mara mamba? Does it have any chatoyancy (shiny bits like cat's eye)?
Will ask hubby when he's around.
It looks like some type of jasper...but hard to say. I love that you named your camera! can't wait to see more pics!
Ok Hubster has had a look. He had a few things to say. He thinks it could be a type of sandstone (with the quartz in it) and that it looks as though at some time is has been in a riverbed (intriguing since it was found in the desert). The red could be from iron but could also be the result of heat - was it found in an area where there are forest fires, could it have been in a campfire? He says it could also be jasper - jasper has inclusions of clear quartz. Other than that he couldn't say without actually handling it.
It just occurred to me - why don't you ask the stone yourself? Ground and protect yourself first, then hold the stone in your left hand and close your eyes. Do you see any images? Ask the stone to tell you its story...
Oh - I got a PS for you. The lady who made my amethyst pendant has a FABULOUS ruby in fuchsite pendant in her shop. I know I'm not supposed to pimp for other sellers - but really it is such a beauty (you can see the hexagonal formation of the ruby crystal) and I remember you saying that you were drawn to this stone. (There is a link to her shop in my blog post). Also she's in Australia.
Healingstones, fantastic! without having time to sit and meditate with the stone I feel that the jasper thing is probably right- it feels protective and grounding and the red probably comes from the desert heat. Have no idea where the water came from though LOL
Thanks also for letting me know about the pendant will check out in due course not that I'm a big fan of jewellery...I do however desperately need to find a good source to buy rocks ie I still need to find a black tourmaline and quick! I'm also looking to purchase other more unusual stones that intrigue me such as dolphin stone etc but I haven't a clue where I can get these locally...so if you have good (pref Aussie) contacts please share!
Thanks again! More "identify this stone!" mysteries heading your way in due course ;) cheers.
