It occurs to me that relative to the normal population I have barely a competitive bone in my body...mostly for the fact that I don't care enough about anything and I don't really care what anybody else thinks or how people view me... oh, not to mention I am lazy, and idealistic and perhaps to some extent unrealistic.
I realised this is probably why me and my genes will probably be phased out before too long.
It's not like I've had a silver platter life...I just don't seem to have that competitive drive or hunger...perhaps it is an old soul thing...
In any case that was just a thought- I've been asked by friends before...they don't understand me and I don't understand them re: the competitiveness...
Too bad...I think my genes could have benefited being carried through more than some others that roam the planet...reminds me of that thought....that before too long everybody in the world will be really dumb because most of the smart people tend to end up pursuing careers and jobs and putting off babies till they reach an age they can't and most of the others have nothing better to do and end up having loads and loads of kids...of course there are exceptions *winks at HO*
In any case maybe all the mixing of races and more diversified stronger genepool will help counteract the population decline...

wow - I'm almost defensive (even with the winking)
how funny.
well I can't think of anything I really want to say except You're Really Vain!
=D
vain is more looks right? I don't think that's the correct term...
in any case not sure if you're aware but a lot of countries actually give lucrative financial incentives to people to have kids- a lot of people have kids so they can get the free money to use on frivolous things...and then they go "oops" I didn't realise a kid is a long term commitment and then are crap parents cos they didn't want them in the first place. Maybe you don't notice it in an LDS community...
hm. (i'm totally cracking up over here). Only idiots would have kids to earn money. Everyone knows they suck every dime (and more) out of you.
sheesh
what kind of..
sheesh
really quite funny. ;)
no - I think vain applies.
that, or confident. conceited
Hey - I like those kinds of people, though. so by all means.
btw, you don't have an acupuncture remedy for this, do you? I think I swallowed soap. ruined my whole wonderful (Wonderful!) dinner - and I"m a little distressed by it.
crazy kids.
(and we're back to what I said early about only idiots would have children to earn money)
hahahahahah
I sense your getting a little clucky :) Keeping your genes in the pool would be a great contribution to the planet.
p.s. interesting new profile pick. From Japan?
Franko Gnedo....sorry...NUP!(notice the caps) I guess just these ideas are typical discussion topic for my gender and age...I don't have any semblance of "clucky" yet which people think is a bit...unexpected/bad??...if I do get so...I'll be sure to let you know ;) I think it would be such a bizarre novelty it would be worthy of a blogpost, at least! haha
From Japan...in a past life :)
HO, yeah! that's exactly why I said DUMB!
yeah I agree confident but not overly conceited-INTJs do tend towards this but then again I find it is INFJs who seem to find this "too much" possibly as the ones I know IRL have low self esteem...I think a certain amount of confidence in females esp is refreshing - I find people who lack self esteem etc highly highly irritating cos you always need to rub their egos...HIGH MAINTENANCE! lol
I find I am only competitive over things that are worth getting competitive over. Which are few and far between. I did get a little competiitive over Olympic hockey, but it's not like I was even playing...
I can relate. I was not a competitive kid by nature, but I was 'encouraged' to do very competitive activities, like enter into eisteddfods and music competitions and join swimming teams where some of the kids were aiming to become state competitors.
I still have horrors about all the performance anxiety that those experiences entailed and I still find it very hard to play piano with an audience, even if it's just for a few people.
My kids are not competitive at all either and I do not want to push them to be otherwise. I am learning to feel o.k. about the fact that they have no desire to be great at anything. They just want to be kids.
This is a tough thing to learn, because so many parents are pushing/encouraging their kids to do all kinds of amazing things and there's an attitude that a successful child is one who achieves well at something.
I also think parents see their kids as an extension of themselves and if their kids are not budding geniuses or sports champions, that it's a poor reflection on them.
I struggle with finding the balance between letting my kids be kids, opening up their lives to different experiences and allowing this to be a natural process, rather than a forced one.
I was recently reading Tim Flannery's, The Future Eaters in which he describes the evolution of Australian fauna and flora as being very different to standard evolution, which sees definite winners and losers.
Instead, because Australia's natural resources are so limited, the ones to survive, were the species that learnt to cooperate with others and share food/resources.
I'd like to think that as human beings, we can learn how to be cooperative, rather than competitive and recognise that we are human-beings, not human- doings, or human-comptetitors.
Sounds like a tempting offer bubble girl :)
