Relief!

A good friend who went AWOL and got distracted by - ironically- Germany, is finally BACK!!!

Thank God...I almost thought I'd lose her permanently to the lure of their high standard, refined, cultured, genuine, intellectual and honesty valuing, nice-to-introverts dominant society for good (!)

Strangely all the stray birds are flying home for a visit...last week M was back from Asia, today my friend from Germany, and in the coming week Toyboy from Africa...yay! It's so nice to have familiar faces and actual FRIENDS back in my actual geography and timezone :)

Okay so when a German tells me so I listen, lol

Talk about PREJUDICED! LOL

So anyway my German gf who I highly admire and respect told me to be a certain way. Somehow when a German tells me so I listen and obey, lol...it's hypnotoad on Futurama all over again!

So from that what to conclude? Humans are a completely irrational species!!! But then again there are those that attribute it to gender...LOL

An aside, I was told that with how to get on with the opposite genders it goes like this...for males a female puts in 50% listening and 50% understanding. With females males need 100% listening and 0% understanding. Obviously a Male told me that! *eye roll*

I feel wrung out with too much social interaction and being pulled in so many directions-not like I can retain my structural energetic integrity easily when I feel like lots of vultures all grabbing at me...I think introverted hermits were not made for this...I've scheduled in serious CAVE TIME for recovery next week, however the next month is a bit hectic!! (But also possibly exciting...)

p.s for the record while I'm being irrationally(?) prejudiced can I just put on the record...I. ABSOLUTELY. CANNOT. STAND. LEO. MEN. I guess that is probably why I have drawn them my entire life probably in about an 80% to other ratio!!!!! see...there is some rationality to my rant!

German correctness...

I love it! LOL

Didn't I always say I am German first and foremost? LOL a whole nation of INTJ-esques I think...no wonder the German culture makes me as excited as a kid in a candy store.

Where as here...brutish society that it is...complete strangers try to maul you with a space invading kiss somehow without the tact or finesse of the French, so it's even more offensive to my INTJ-ness...

Did I say I LOOOOOVE Germans!! (okay except for the Nazi ones...)

I just keep surprising...myself! LOL

No...not like I hide behind a wall scream *peekaboo*, film it, and then watch it and collapse in giggles, LOL!!!

But just in terms of how I keep evolving...and finding out new things about myself that I just would never have guessed maybe even just a few months ago...

Today I saw a really great film WALK ON WATER...combining the best of two worlds...my strange affinity for German everything & interest in German history, as well as the beautiful holy country of Israel...

I thought the film was a kind of BRIDGE in a way...which perhaps resonates with how I am...

In any case one revelation I had recently is that I feel a special draw to Israel lately which I found surprising...for many years now my Korean friend has been expressing to me her "Heart for Israel & the Middle East"...I never understood! I'm not sure if I have this same "Heart" but I'm definitely feeling a draw and interest for Israel that I have never had before...interested enough to want to visit(if I did fly that is).

Other things that I have found surprisingly in recent times...

I CAN'T STAND. cold. wet and windy. I used to be a hate the heat girl...in my old age, it seems I've done a 180....balmy please come soon enough!!!

I actually ENJOY domesticity...I like pottering around the house...cooking, trying to keep the place nice etc...I actually suddenly got interested in aesthetics...I enjoy expensive things...

Suddenly I see that I could easily BE that Lady of Leisure which I never had any respect for and thought was the lowest kind of low in terms of a future I could see for myself...

It's bizarre it's like a completely new me...who I don't know and am starting to discover...not sure if I like her-I guess I don't have a choice- definitely she's surprising me!!!

BUT. Don't get too excited I'm not giving up my well worn comfy hippie dero self anytime soon!!! That would just be too drastic- Grandma wouldn't be able to deal with such a jarring shock to the system. I guess I'll be the ultimate polarity...harmony in contradiction :)

Brantdner? Yes Please!

My mum was pretty hip and fashionable in her time. (Yeah well so would I be if I personally had my clothes designed by me and made by a tailor!) LOL but no seriously...my mum's coolest thing in her later years has been to get me into watching INSPECTOR REX.

My German friend keeps telling me everytime I whinge of living in an uncivilised cultural vacuum to
"Come Live in Germany!"

My latest response was along the lines of "Find & send over a Brandtner then we'll see". LOL!

I also looooove the Rex dog(s) in that particular series!!

So anyway since I made my Please Santa, Send me a German post, lo and behold in my daily business I actually found a bonafide one so I've enjoyed the non brain dead chats! Not only that but a Bonafide Dutch too- what a relief from the locals(except my neighbour-my neighbour is cooool)! I looooove REAL Europeans, conversations with Europeans keep me sane cos they remind me that humans yield from my same galaxy...having said that I'm still optimistically hoping to find a cool local apart from my neighbour...

Apart from the excitement of having had two REAL & Australian based Europeans to talk to, I'm completely bright eyed and bushy tailed at 6am in the morning and felt awake all night-Yikes! I guess that's what you get when you consume 7 X 63% dark chocolate covered Macadamias right before bed...Practitioners don't always practise what they advise patients....shhhhh!

This is my new favourite German word...

To recap though, my very favourite German word is Schadenfreude. But that is old news.

So I have found a new favourite German word...Verliebtheit!!!

Beautiful, isn't it?!

Still never as beautiful as the French or Spanish language though....*sigh.

Prussian Virtues, Mata Hari & Germanophile

I was reading at Wiki that Prussians believed that the following virtues accounted for the rise of their country:

perfect organization
discipline
sacrifice
rule of law
obedience to authority
reliability
tolerance
frugality
punctuality
modesty
diligence

Except for a slight problem with the authority and law bits ;) I have great respect for these qualities...possibly cos some of them such as discipline -for example- are severely lacking in me!

In any case this information arose from reading up about the fascinating life story of femme fatale and suspected "double agent" Mata Hari. At one point she was involved with the German crown prince...

I'm not sure exactly why but for some reason ever since Germany infiltrated my brain, it just keeps randomly enterting my consciousness and I've become completely fascinated to just keep learning more and more about everything German related I can get my hands on! So apart from being fascinated with Nazi war films and especially propaganda films of the time (when I've never been interested in history prior), and cuckoo clocks, I've been in German everything investigation mode.

So it was interesting to find out that my birthday corresponds with two very important moments in German history...not only the Fall of the Berlin Wall marking the reunification of East and West but also that it is also the day Germany became a republic with the withdrawal of the monarchy with the abdication of the Crown Prince and his Father.

Apart from the Japanese, I've always felt a strong inexplicable sense of connection with Germans- I'm not sure whether it is because ideologically and historically the two cultures are in some way quite similar and are quite like me personally or whether it has to do with past lives...Or maybe I thought it would be cool to be a Germanophile just to counter balance G's annoying Francophile-ness.

Anway just a random tangle line of jumbled thoughts...how cool is Mata Hari...I wonder if there are still surviving blood related descendents of hers...I can't wait till 2017 when the French army will release court documents related to her trial and execution.

Sheesh who ever knew, I the rebel daughter of a former history teacher, would so many years after schooling start to actually become interested in history of my own accord...
