Different Time, Different Place, Different Circumstance
Different Place, Different Time, Different Circumstance they'd be so meaningful to me. Actually I have heard this one a lot lately "If only I'd met you earlier!"
Eh it kinda sucks.
Some people are cynical but I really do believe in "instant clicking" with people. I think for me this is the way it works...relationships don't always have to be such CONSCIOUS EFFORT...(except for Marriage, LOL)...Sometimes it really is about who you just "get along" with! And just between you and me I can pretty much guarantee 100% of these clicks can be explained by Astrological Compatibility ;) Seriously. I'd make an educated guess that Astrologers don't even bother making effort with people unless they have checked their chart...I know one who surfed the net saw a pretty face checked her birthday and then wrote to a complete random. She is now his wife- happily married...easy easy...cos of COMPATIBILITY. People who aren't compatible, sure you may LEARN a lot but it's always pain and kind of a waste of time in the whole scheme of Life is Short so why waste your time? (Unless of course you're needing Growth, pain in the ass that growth business is but makes us all the more wiser :)
Oh wow that was a serious aside and tangent- a first for me for a while LOL!
In any case just in case you needed a healthy lunch idea this is what I did yesterday in my 5 min simple healthy minimal ingredients meal challenge...and as usual it was tasty :) (p.s all the vegetables I use are 100% organic picked off a farm kinda thing....FRESH^^)
I didn't have a rice paper wrap or similar so I had to use an oat wrap which was a bit of a messy operation cos the juices just decimated it...I'd recommend a rice paper wrap a la Vietnamese rice paper roll type :)
Half a can of tuna in extra virgin olive oil, strained(the olive oil just preserves the tuna flavour better)
finely chopped garlic
pinch of italian herbs
half a tomato chopped.
a small zucchini chopped into thin short strips
a small teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil
Sautee half of the garlic in the hot oil, dump in the herbs, zucchinis stirfry briefly. Mix in the tuna along with the other half of your garlic(yes this is raw). You then "bung" (can you tell I'm in Austraaalia?) this into the rice paper wrap along with your fresh chopped tomato...Yummy. Kid's Play. Well here's looking at just one big kid here ;) My alter Ego is the very old essence that mixes it with all the senior citizens. (I've learnt to manage what seems like having 2 personalities in one to many people...WHO says you can't be a child with wisdom or an old person with a youthful personality ALL IN ONE!?? Not everything is has to be discrete Black and White!!! hehe...)

I am a social retard, and other stories...
In any case I was thinking back to before I became so busy that books governed my life...was I that much of a social retard? I'm not sure. Hence I was wondering if emotional intelligence is fluid...somehow I think that the more interaction you get the higher your EQ.
Somehow me thinks that spending all my time sticking my head in a book the past couple of years has vastly dimished my EQ...although to be honest I don't think it was ever so high to start with...I think high EQ favours extroverts or rather, people who aren't super introverts...
On another note- in a bit of an "Adventure" for me...I happened to see some pretty good looking fresh deboned ling fillets...not that I really eat fish or have ever cooked it but I guess I was feeling adventurous to try something new that day...
anycase I was shocked when two small pieces cost $16-sheesh! I am so glad I'm not a big fan of seafood...I had no idea how to cook fish so I asked my friend the daughter of a restauranteur-she had no idea except that she preferred steamed fish to fried fish...So I opted to bung the fish in my steamer- but how to flavour it??
I had to guess- So I put a little soy, a little sesame oil, a little chinese wine, some garlic, some chilli and some coriander and some salt...all in all- not bad for first time fish cooking!
I felt a bit guilty though...I didn't eat fish for the longest time from about the age of 4-22 (cos I was convinced "fish are my friends, not my food!") But now I realise it is very good for health especially for someone of my constitution...
But I think I'll go back to veggies tomorrow...

"I wish I were a real boy..."
Since as long as I can remember I've always mixed it with the boys. My first ever friend was a boy...called Donald. He gave me this toy train which is one of my prize possessions...circa 1982-vintage I tell you! My second ever friend was a boy too...Jonno from playschool. He came and smacked a big kiss on me when the teacher asked him for a kiss. I don't remember much else except that he had big red lips that were forever curled upwards...so all I remember is that he looked like a clown!
My third ever friend was a boy too...called Nicholas. He liked swallowing bits of gravel and I think he liked eating the contents of what he found in his nose which even back then I thought was pretty disgusting...we used to play Voltron and Thundercats and he was the leader out of the pack of boys plus one-me. I can't quite remember which toon we were enacting but I remember we all used to argue over who got to be the black and red one cos they were the leaders, the strongest and the coolest ones. I remember always feeling frustrated that I got denigrated to being the blue or the pink ones cos they were the female characters- I remember once I got my first girlfriend, Kim, what a relief it was to 'pass over' this burden LOL
So those three boys were the foundations of my earliest socialisation...Probably why to this day I still find women much more cryptic to understand and requiring a lot more effort on my part...
For as long as I can remember I've always been a tomboy and I've always wanted to do the fun things boys got to do. Although I really wanted to play the drums at one stage, the only 'boyly' thing I got away with in my youth was a dress boycott and a pink boycott which actually lasted very many years- I remember always standing out at kids parties and even whole suburbs cos I was the only girl not in a pretty frilly dress or stereotypical feminine colours and prints. It was t-shirts, cords and bubblegummers all the way for me :-)! I was a good, obedient kid but that standard dress code was the sole thing I had the nerve to dig my heels in on :) cos all that feminine attire was in my mind "wish-the-ground-would-open-up-and-swallow-me" Embarrassing!
In any case where is this post going? I guess it's a sweet trip down memory lane...
Or maybe it is a commentary on my asian cultural upbringing and how there is an inherent chauvinism in it with its rigid understandings and expectations of the gender roles. When my mate M told me about his recent snow trip how three girls went along and so he felt the need to "look after them", I was like..."um, why do you need to look after them- they're big girls perfectly capable of looking after themselves and each other!"
This attitude reminded me very much of my parents...now that I'm (happily) single again, they're constantly worrying about me-arghhh! I know the only thing that will really put their minds in their old age at ease is to see me with somebody to "look after me"...my mum is very much the traditionalist believing every woman should get married and start a family and hence career is not important and that women who aspire to have careers and be financially independent is perhaps "overly ambitious"... I don't know. More than ever, I feel very much part of the 'independent' womens revolution. And, plus I'm not sure if marriage and babies are suited to everyone...
I don't know how this post came about but possibly because I got to talk to a bunch of My Mates recently after being relatively girlied out of late and remembered how much... a "boyly" girl still appreciates having the company of Mates and being able to join in to do Boy things :-)!
It's kinda trickier the older you get though :P At least now, in contrast to when I was a kid, I finally see the redeeming features of being a female: what I now recognise as the 'superior' gender LOL, but I think I'll always have that inner boy child within :)
